At the heart of achieving racial equity and inclusion is community engagement. Community members must have input on the policies that affect their lives and in the solutions to the local issues that affect them on a daily basis. When residents are engaged in their local communities, both their personal sense of self and their collective effectiveness is improved. This is why my mission is to put community needs for racial justice and inclusive policies at the forefront. I will be a state senator who represents the diversity of District 55, and who listens to and advocates for the diverse needs of its residents. We are in this fight together, and when we all come together to share our stories and to listen to one another, we all get to share ownership of lifelong solutions.
